Why get EFTPOS?

New Zealanders are some of the world's leading users of direct debit and credit card-based payment systems, with more than 300 million EFTPOS transactions processed in this country every year. Card-based payments are quickly becoming the standard, and many of your customers will expect to be able to pay by credit, debit or charge card. If card payment isn't available, these customers may choose to shop elsewhere.

Terminal Guide

There are three main types of EFTPOS terminals:

  1. Standard "Dial & IP" terminals
    • Run on a phone line or a broadband connection.
    • Most are one-piece terminals with the ability to add a pin pad.
    • Suitable for most hospitality and retail environments.

  2.  "GPRS Dial" terminals
    • Process transactions using a phone line or a GPRS signal (as used by mobile phones)
    • Generally need to be plugged in to mains power, but also can run if plugged in to a vehicle cigarette lighter
    • Ideal for taxi operators, trades people, and other mobile businesses.

  3. Complete Mobile EFTPOS terminals
    • Run on a rechargeable battery that can last between 4-10 hours, depending on usage
    • One-piece terminals with built-in printer
    • Full mobility EFTPOS solution
    • Ideal for trades people, mobile shops, trade show participants

We can assist with your application to the bank for EFTPOS/Credit card processing because we have contacts throughout the New Zealand banking industry to help make the application process quick and easy.

  • Pre- and post-sale support
    We'll help you select a terminal that meets your business requirements, and we'll take care of the installation. Once you've got EFTPOS up-and-running, you can rely on us for any repairs or replacements required, and we can arrange a follow-up consultation to ensure the solution is the right fit for you.

  • Long and short term rentals
    We have a range of terminals available for long or short term rental, starting from as little as $50/week. These are great if you need additional terminals for a big sale or a special event.

  • Temporary merchant numbers
    If you only need to accept EFTPOS and Credit card payments a few times in a year, you may not want to invest in your own merchant number. We can provide temporary Paymark ETSL merchant numbers for you. With temporary numbers, all your transactions are settled into our merchant trust account, and the lump sum is paid in to your account when a reconciliation is done (this can be done each night if it is a high-volume event over a few days).

  • Additional components
    We can provide additional parts for all our terminals, including desk-mounted stands, PIN pad extension cables, and a host of other add-ons to ensure your EFTPOS solution works for you.

All our terminals are viable for outright purchase, lease or long/short term rental, with outright terminal purchase from $700, and standard 36-month leases available from $10.99+GST/week

Leasing

Our difference
When you lease an EFTPOS terminal from Livingstone Business Equipment, you are leasing the terminal directly from us. We don't sign you up to a Finance or Leasing Company as many companies do - you are dealing with us and only us, so you have a simple, single point of contact for your service.

Benefits of Leasing
Leasing is the most popular option for our customers, with a major reason being that lease payments are fully tax-deductible.

Customers also choose leasing because it reduces the risk and the cost associated with ensuring your system meets ever-changing security and compliance requirements set out by banks and credit card companies. EFTPOS terminals do not have an indefinite lifetime: when compliance requirements change, software needs to be upgraded, and some terminals are just not capable of taking on new software. This could mean that a $2000 investment in a terminal has to be written off when it is no longer supported.

In a lease situation, Livingstone Business Equipment will ensure that your terminal meets all security and compliance requirements - even if this means providing a replacement if your current terminal cannot support the latest required software.

Our standard lease term is 36 months, and we can look at arranging longer or shorter lease terms if that suits your business.

We will support the terminal throughout its lease term. This includes repairs, consumables and servicing. We'll even swap out a defective terminal to minimise the cost to your business should the terminal stop working.
